WHAT CAN WE DO?
Persuade Glasgow Council to renew the lease.
Persuade the present members of the Maxwell family to honour the memory of their great grandfather (Sir John Stirling Maxwell) and grandmother (Dame Anne Maxwell McDonald) and regift the land to the city.
Set up a Trust to begin planning for community ownership. This could then raise funds to develop community based sports and recreation facilities, and keep it free for public use.
Just one example of a community run sports grounds is the nearby Langside Sports Club (see photo). But there are other models.
